Our Herd Book
(oldest-youngest)
About our Alpine herd: In 2013, I lost my beautiful horse Mercedes at the ripe old age of 30. Her best friend was our goat, Daisy, a nubian mix who is now 17 years old! She was devastated of the loss of her best friend, but we could not put her with our little Nigerians. So we went on a lookout to find her a new companion. We found a herd of bred goats for sale that were in need of an immediate home, because of family circumstances. We weren't looking to breed anymore goats as we were still building our adorable herd of Nigerians, but after asking to purchase their yearling and hearing about their situation, we couldn't help to drive the 5 hour distance and pick all of them up in upstate NY. We were planning to sell the rest to good homes after they kidded, but once we saw their quality mammary systems and large amounts of delicious milk, we knew we had quality stock that would be a great additional breeding program at the farm. Since then we have been building the herd and have high hopes for all of them.
Three of the does are tattooed, so I am going to try to get their registration papers. I have only been adding registered alpine goats to our herd, in hopes I can at some point say we breed "Registered Alpine Dairy Goats".
2016: The reason why we started Alpine goats was for our Nubian Mix "Daisy" to have some friends. Unfortuntely she passed away at the age of 20 years! Rest in peace dear gal with your ol' pal Mercedes!

Does
Our goal for our alpine herd is to develop four lines, originating from each of our foundation does. Therefore, each line has a different color and you can tell which goat comes from which line. Here are the following lines and their colors, "LaitLait" is purple, "Kiko" is blue, and "Finesse" is red. Does that are not purebred have a * by their name.
LaitLait was born in 2011 and is not registered. LaitLait is SUPER FRIENDLY and is perfect with kids. She is one of my favorites to milk. She has a buttery soft udder with good capacity. She has medium sized teats with good orifices. She is a very friendly doe that is feminine, dairy, and has the "wow" factor. She also has a BEAUTIFUL head, long and clean-cut neck, with a level topline. She screams dairy and is a great overall doe.

Finesse was born in 2013 and is not registered. She is very dairy & feminine with great movement. She has very nice legs and topline. She is a very sharp. She is a first freshener, so her udder needs a little more developing before I can really see. I haven't tried to milk her or really looked at her mammary, but it looks like she needs a little more attachment. Her second freshening udder is a huge improvement over last years! She has stronger attachments and boy,oh boy does this girl produce. She has very nice foreudder extension and is a great example of the third, third, third. She really filled in this year, especially with her rising star daughter Bianca...She's got our attention this year of 2015.

Kiko was born in 2011 and is not registered. She is my personal favorite with her sweet personality, but I have a few does that have better conformation. She is a sweet goat that seems to be a favorite from everyone. She has good conformation, but doesn't have the "wow" factor that some of my other does are showing. She does, however, milk beautifully. She has medium sized teats with large orifices---a blessing for the hand milker. She has strong rear attachments with a very strong medial. Kiko also has very nice teat placement. She is a great milk goat!

SOLD *Bianca was born in 2014 and is out of our doe Finesse and a White Nubian buck that we now have sold. She is a stunning yearling! She is elegant and dairy, just like her mother. Great legs and flawless movement. She has more width, better brisket extension, and more angulation in her rear legs than her mother. Bianca's freshening udder is just amazing as she is! She has great teat placement and teat size. She has very strong attachments and a great producer. She is a huge improvement over her mother and is definitely a doe to keep your eye on. |

*Belle was the last born in 2014 and is out of doe LaitLait and a White Nubian buck that we now have sold. Belle, no matter what her age, is the pudgy little kid of the herd. Her Nubian father gave her a more stocky build. She has more strength and width then the others in our herd and we look forward to see what she will produce for us. |
Candy Paint was born from Raven and Kiko. She has length and style with a beautiful head and neck. I truly love the front end on this doe. She is not at all stocky, but has adequate width and substance. Her first freshening was most impressive with overall strong attachments, pronounced medial, and large teats for superb milking.

Zippy was born from Finesse and Raven. She is almost the spitting image of her mother. She is elegant and dainty, which makes her movement look effortlessly beautiful . She has a level topline, long legs and tight shoulders. Her first freshening showed a high, wide mammary system with large area of attachment in the rear.
